The rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College has exposed the corruption in the state’s medical world. Now an audio clip has surfaced from West Bengal which shows the ‘threat culture’ in the medical profession. This clip is going viral on social media.
It is being claimed that in the audio clip, Dr. Birupaksha Biswas is heard threatening an intern doctor. Dr. Biswas is considered close to former principal of RG Kar Medical College, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh and the ruling party TMC. He was also a part of the IMA.
Threat of cancellation of registration
In the audio clip, Dr Biswas is heard threatening an intern doctor and saying that his registration will be cancelled if he supports the DSO in his college. He also allegedly instructed him to do politics outside the college. The intern doctor was also threatened with harassment if he did not follow the instructions.
Viral audio was told to be AI engineering
Sources claim that the incident happened a year ago. However, Dr. Birupaksha Biswas has denied the allegation against him and said that the viral audio was created by AI.
Dr Birupaksha Biswas is also under the scanner of the CBI as the protesting junior doctors have claimed that he was seen at the crime scene after the incident at RG Kar Hospital. However, Dr Biswas has denied his presence at the crime scene.
A girl was molested during the protest
A case of molestation of a girl came to light during a protest against the RG Kar Medical College incident in Kolkata on Sunday. One of the protesting girls was allegedly molested by a man. This incident took place near Esplanade Crossing in central Kolkata. In the CCTV footage, the accused man was seen fleeing from the spot. Kolkata Police has registered an FIR in the case.
