Kensington Palace has released a new portrait of Prince George to celebrate his 11th birthday today, July 22, 2024. The photograph was taken by his mother, Princess Kate, earlier this month in Windsor.
The black-and-white image shows the young royal looking dapper in a dark blazer and white shirt. This continues the tradition set by Kate Middleton and Prince William of issuing portraits of their children every year for their birthdays since they were babies.
Prince George has had an eventful few weeks leading up to his birthday. He recently watched England in the Euro 2024 final alongside his father at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany. Earlier this year, Kate had to apologize for “any confusion” after admitting to “editing” a Mother’s Day image of her with her three children.

While Prince George will likely celebrate his birthday privately with his family, he has made a few public appearances recently. He attended Trooping the Colour, the annual celebration of the British monarch’s birthday, on June 15. The preteen prince also joined his father and sister at a Taylor Swift concert, where they snapped a selfie with the pop star.
As the future monarch, Prince William and Princess Kate are making efforts to normalize royal duties for their son and ensure he understands his future role without being overwhelmed. They want to make the transition as easy and pleasant as possible for George and his siblings.
