Kejriwal has lined up challenges before Manish Sisodia gets bail

Manish Sisodia getting bail is almost like Arvind Kejriwal’s release for Aam Aadmi Party. It is natural for Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi to get emotional on the news of Manish Sisodia’s bail. Arvind Kejriwal’s eyes had also once filled with tears when he had come to inaugurate a new school – and on this special occasion for Aam Aadmi Party, Atishi has also inaugurated a school.

Atishi has also played an important role in the credit given to Manish Sisodia in the Aam Aadmi Party for the education system in Delhi – and after Manish Sisodia went to jail, Arvind Kejriwal gave Sisodia’s responsibilities to Atishi – and since then, she has been fulfilling her responsibilities.

The Supreme Court has asked Manish Sisodia to surrender his passport and also deposit a bond of Rs 10 lakh for bail. Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26, 2023, and then by the Enforcement Directorate on March 9. Earlier, Manish Sisodia’s bail petitions have been rejected several times in the trial court, High Court and Supreme Court.

Sanjay Singh had raised slogans for Arvind Kejriwal, but the prison locks have actually been broken for Manish Sisodia after him. Arvind Kejriwal did come out, but that was only a temporary measure of legal relief. However, Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer Vivek Jain believes that Manish Sisodia’s bail order can have an impact on Arvind Kejriwal’s bail case as well, and the court’s observation in the order will help a lot.

Manish Sisodia had earlier come out to meet his ailing wife, but now he is being released on bail after 17 months. And during this time a lot has changed in the politics of Delhi and the country.

There has been no significant impact on Arvind Kejriwal’s constitutional and political health, but Manish Sisodia, who was the Deputy CM of Delhi before going to jail, is now just an MLA – the only difference is that unlike Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia is not barred from going to the Secretariat during bail.

Will the Delhi government continue to run from the jail?

Despite being in Tihar Jail, Arvind Kejriwal remains the Chief Minister, but Manish Sisodia is no longer the Deputy CM – and at present there is no such arrangement that he will become the Deputy CM again after coming out of jail. This is possible only when Arvind Kejriwal resigns, or gets special permission from the court.

During the Lok Sabha elections, Arvind Kejriwal was also released on interim bail, but some conditions were imposed in his case, there is a slight difference in Manish Sisodia’s case. After the bail verdict, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who was pleading on behalf of CBI and ED, had requested to impose conditions for Manish Sisodia like in Arvind Kejriwal’s case. ASG Raju said that like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia should also be barred from going to the Secretariat, but the Supreme Court rejected this appeal.

While granting bail to Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court said that he is a respected person of the society, and there is no possibility of him running away. Regarding the case, the court said that most of the evidence related to the case has been collected, so there is no possibility of tampering with them.

Apart from depositing a bond of Rs 10 lakh and passport, a special condition has also been imposed on Manish Sisodia during bail, that is, he will have to go to the police station and mark his presence twice a week, every Monday and Thursday – AAP leader Sanjay Singh has been asked to share only his location with the investigating officer during bail.

Now that Manish Sisodia is no longer the Deputy CM, Arvind Kejriwal will continue to run the government from jail until some other arrangement is made. Manish Sisodia will not be able to do anything even if he wants to – at the most he will remain Arvind Kejriwal’s new messenger.

It is a different matter that even when Arvind Kejriwal was out of jail, everything used to be Manish Sisodia’s responsibility, but that is not possible from jail. Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi saying that he is authorizing Atishi to hoist the flag in Delhi on Independence Day, but there is no news of LG’s approval yet.

As far as writing the letter is concerned, if he wants, he can recommend Manish Sisodia to be made the deputy CM again, but this alone is not going to solve the problem. When there is a dispute between the Chief Minister and the LG in normal times, then how can it be understood that any such recommendation of Arvind Kejriwal will be heard – then only one way is left, in this case too Arvind Kejriwal should approach the highest court, ask for permission and if he gets it, then he should move forward.

It cannot be said that government work in Delhi has come to a standstill since Arvind Kejriwal went to jail. Because transfers and appointments are being made by the Lieutenant Governor. The High Court has also given an order regarding the books of school students.

But the fact is that the work on Arvind Kejriwal’s part is completely stalled. The work on Arvind Kejriwal’s part, which would have given political benefit to the Aam Aadmi Party, is stopped.

If we look at it, Arvind Kejriwal has done it in such a way that there is very little scope left for Manish Sisodia to do anything even after coming out of jail. This can be said to be the case in the current situation – and if we look at the other aspects related to it, it seems as if Arvind Kejriwal has piled up a lot of problems for Manish Sisodia.

Certainly, Manish Sisodia must be wondering this question too: how long will the Delhi government continue to run from jail like this?

Aam Aadmi Party is also running from jail

Sunita Kejriwal’s role has been described as that of a messenger only. Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, regularly meets opposition leaders. Uddhav Thackeray, who has just arrived in Delhi, has also met her. She also goes to rallies of INDIA Block. She also conducts road shows and rallies during the election campaign of Aam Aadmi Party – but everywhere she is Arvind Kejriwal’s messenger.

Handling things with the help of messengers is only a temporary arrangement, it cannot last for long – it is a different matter that Arvind Kejriwal has been running both the government and the organization in this manner till now.

Just like there were many power centers within the Congress party when it did not have a permanent president, Arvind Kejriwal has also created the same situation. Apart from Arvind Kejriwal who has all the power in his hands, Sunita Kejriwal has also become a power center. Similarly, Sanjay Singh is also a different power center. Bibhav Kumar was also such a power center before he himself went to jail in the Swati Maliwal case. If Swati Maliwal is to be believed, he was a super power center.

Congress has made its arrangements, although Mallikarjun Kharge has also become a new power center, but the old power centers are still functioning – the only difference is that leaders and workers get solutions under one roof. Officially, no G-23 has been formed in AAP, but after Swati Maliwal and the same case, Sanjay Singh also seems to be in a different role. It does not seem to be the same as before.

Elections are around the corner and everything is scattered. Haryana assembly elections are to be held before Delhi. Even if we leave Haryana aside, Delhi is the most important for the Aam Aadmi Party – and for Manish Sisodia the biggest challenge is to gather and put everything scattered everywhere in the right place.
