Kate Middleton to Attend Wimbledon Men’s Final, Support Defending Champion

Princess Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, will attend the Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles final on Sunday, July 14, to carry out her royal duties as patron of the All England Club. She will have the honor of presenting the trophy to the winner, either defending champion Carlos Alcaraz or seven-time champion Novak Djokovic.

This will be Middleton’s second public appearance since her cancer diagnosis in March, following her attendance at the annual Trooping the Colour event in June. Despite ongoing treatment, she expressed a desire to engage in a few public activities during the summer.

As a tennis enthusiast and regular attendee at Wimbledon, Middleton has been a familiar face in the Royal Box, often accompanied by her husband Prince William and their children. However, this year, Prince William will miss the event as he is scheduled to watch the Euro 2024 semifinal match between England and Spain.

Middleton’s involvement in Wimbledon extends beyond being a spectator. As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), she has presented the trophies to the champions of the Wimbledon singles events for both men and women since 2016.

While Middleton typically attends both the men’s and women’s finals, she will miss the women’s final on Saturday due to a scheduling conflict. In her absence, British former professional tennis player Deborah Jevans will present the trophy to the women’s champion.

Middleton’s genuine passion for the sport is evident in her actions and engagements within the tennis community, including her recent support for tennis icon Andy Murray after his unexpected Wimbledon journey
