The case of Kannada star Darshan Thoogudeepa shocked the whole country. Recently, some pictures from inside the jail went viral, in which murder accused Darshan was seen getting VVIP treatment inside the jail. After these pictures came out, people were very angry. But according to the latest information, Darshan has been transferred to another jail.
According to the information, he has been transferred from Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru to Ballari jail following allegations of receiving VVIP treatment in jail. Darshan is in custody in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old auto-driver and his fan Renuka Swamy.
What was in the viral photo?
Recently, one of his photos went viral, in which he was seen hanging out with three other people inside the jail. In the picture, Darshan was sitting on a chair in a very relaxed mood and was holding a cigarette and a coffee mug. Along with this, a blurred video also went viral in which Darshan was seen talking to someone on a video call inside the jail.
There was a lot of controversy after this photo came out. Common people, including the deceased’s father, started demanding that Darshan be shifted from jail and legal action be taken. On this matter, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara had said that the government cannot decide to shift Darshan from jail. This decision will be taken by the jail authorities in consultation with the court and other officials.
17 accused in the case were sent to different jails.
According to officials, while Darshan has been transferred to Ballari jail, his co-accused Pawan, Raghavendra and Nandish have been sent to Mysuru jail; Jagdish and Laxman to Shivamogga jail; Dhanraj to Dharwad jail, Vinu to Vijayapura jail, Nagaraj to Kalaburagi jail and Pradosh to Belagavi jail.
Earlier, four other accused in Renuka Swamy’s murder case – Ravi, Karthik, Nikhil and Keshavamurthy have already been transferred to Tumkuru jail. Out of the 17 accused in this case, 3 – Pavithra Gowda, Anukumar and Deepak will remain in Parappana Agrahara jail.
What is the whole matter?
Renuka Swamy, a 33-year-old auto driver, was kidnapped on June 9. She was tortured and then killed. Allegedly, all this was done at the behest of Kannada film star Darshan. It was reported that Renuka Swamy had sent obscene messages to actress Pavitra Gowda, who is believed to be Darshan’s partner. Police investigation also revealed that Darshan himself was involved in the assault on Renuka Swamy. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the judicial custody of Darshan, Pavitra and others was extended till September 9.
