Kangana Ranaut Exclusive: ‘Bollywood is a hopeless place, I made everyone my enemy’, why did Kangana Ranaut say this

Bollywood actress-MP Kangana Ranaut is often seen saying something or the other against Bollywood. This time she has called Bollywood a ‘hopeless’ place. In a conversation with India Today, Kangana talked about the report on sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry and said that this is not new but has been hidden for the last 6 years. Kangana claimed that she has been talking about these issues since the beginning. Because of this, everyone in Bollywood has become her enemy.

Bollywood is a ‘hopeless’ place

Kangana said- Those people were hiding it for 6 years. They were sitting on it for 6 years. I have nothing to say about the film industry. It is a very hopeless place. I put in everything I had. Two cases are registered against me. I started the #MeToo movement, which went nowhere. I started parallel feminist cinema, but those women started attacking me.

“When my film doesn’t do well, the women celebrate. I fought for equal remuneration, because of me they started getting films, but they are happy when I fail. I don’t do any Khan, Kumar or Kapoor film. If my film like Emergency does well, they will hide. They will not be seen anywhere.”

“You must have seen the Satyamev Jayate episode of me and Aamir Khan. I bring up all issues. I say no…no…no and they say yes. I spoke about rape culture, item songs, said no. I made everyone my enemy. Everyone became my enemy. But where have we reached? We are promoting the same kind of sexist cinema, the same violence, where women are degraded. We are doing worse than before.”

Kangana spoke on Kerala report

“Coming to the Kerala report, I have spoken about it for a long time. But what happened, nothing. Nothing was done anywhere. So it is a hopeless place, I have wasted a lot of my time trying to bring about a change. It has changed my life too. I come from a safe and secure place. But sorry, I am very disappointed by today’s girls. Who promote and work in such item numbers. Who themselves do not support the women of their own when they are sexually assaulted.”

With this, Kangana expressed her disappointment and said- For whom am I fighting? Not for myself. I lost work, lost money. I don’t get brands. So I am very disappointed.

The film is not a biopic

Kangana has spoken against Bollywood many times before. She also accused Karan Johar of being a movie mafia. There is still a fierce conflict between the two. Meanwhile, talking about Emergency, Kangana said that even though she is showing a story about Indira Gandhi, it is not her biopic but a political drama film. Emergency was announced in 2021.

Kangana has also directed the film. Apart from Kangana, Emergency also stars Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhary and Shreyas Talpade. While Shreyas Talpade will be seen playing the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Anupam Kher will be seen in the role of Jayaprakash Narayan. Late actor Satish Kaushik will also be seen in the role of former Deputy Prime Minister of India Jagjivan Ram. The film is scheduled to release on September 6. However, earlier the release date of the film was finalized in June.
