Kangana appeals to cancel the censor certificate of ‘Emergency’, Shiromani Akali Dal demands to stop its release

Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has been in constant controversy since the trailer of her film ‘Emergency’ was released. After the trailer was released, protests were held against the film in Punjab and there was a demand to ban it. ‘Emergency’ is accused of portraying the Sikh community in a wrong way, which is ‘insulting’ to their image.

Now the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has also opened a front against Kangana’s ‘Emergency’. The president of the Delhi unit of the party has sent a notice to the censor board and Kangana’s production house regarding the film.

Shiromani Akali Dal against Kangana’s film
The Delhi unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal said in the notice that Kangana Ranaut is ‘notorious for her anti-Sikh rhetoric’ and has ‘chosen the subject of Emergency to target the Sikh community.’

According to the information, the notice further said, ‘The trailer of the film shows incorrect historical facts, which not only misrepresents the Sikh community but also promotes hatred and social ill-will. Such a portrayal not only misleads but is also derogatory and harmful to the social fabric of Punjab and the entire country.’

In this notice, an appeal has been made to the Film Censor Board and the Board Chairman to cancel the censor certification of the film with immediate effect and block its release. The Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal also said in this notice that this film can increase communal disputes and promote misinformation.

Controversy is increasing regarding ’emergency’
After the trailer of Kangana’s film ‘Emergency’ was released, there was a protest in Bathinda, Punjab. The protesters also burnt Kangana’s effigy. Recently, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also sent a notice to the makers of the film and has demanded the government to ban it.

In Telangana, an 18-member delegation of Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur, met government advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir at the secretariat and demanded a ban on the screening of ‘Emergency’. The delegation also submitted a representation and expressed its deep concern over the portrayal of the Sikh community in the film.

Shabbir said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has assured the leaders of the Sikh community that the state government is taking legal advice and is considering banning Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’.
