Kamika Ekadashi 2024: In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha of every month is considered very special. Kamika Ekadashi fast is being observed today i.e. 31st July. Kamika Ekadashi is also known as Pavitra Ekadashi. Kamika Ekadashi is the first Ekadashi of Shravan month.
On this day, Lord Vishnu is worshipped along with Lord Shiva, hence its importance is very high. According to the Hindu calendar, the Ekadashi Tithi falling in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Shravan is known as Kamika Ekadashi. It is believed that the devotee who worships Lord Vishnu on this Ekadashi day gets virtuous results.

The date of Kamika Ekadashi has started on 30th July i.e. yesterday at 4:44 pm and the date will end on 31st July i.e. today at 3:55 pm. The Parana of Kamika Ekadashi will be on 1st August from 5:43 am to 8:24 am.

On this day, wake up before sunrise and take a bath and then light a lamp in front of Lord Vishnu and take a vow to fast. Offer bananas and mangoes, yellow flowers, Panchamrit to God and keep Tulsi leaves in the bhog as Tulsi leaves are very dear to Lord Vishnu. After this, read Kamika Vrat Katha and then do the Aarti of Lord Vishnu. On the day of the fast, do Bhajans and Kirtans of Lord Vishnu throughout the night. On the next day of Ekadashi, feed a Brahmin, give him Dakshina and send him off and then eat food yourself during the Parana Muhurta.
