Judge, DGP, DC and SSP stuck in traffic jam had to appear in court; said- Police is only engaged in the security of leaders and ministers

Jharkhand High Court summoned the state’s DGP, DC and SSP after a judge got stuck in a traffic jam. Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, the court reprimanded the police officers.

On August 23, Justice SK Dwivedi was stuck in a traffic jam caused by the Jan Akrosh rally of BJP Yuva Morcha near the Chief Minister’s residence. After this, the court summoned DGP Anurag Gupta, DC Rahul Sinha and SSP Chandan Sinha on August 27.

Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, the High Court said that law and order has completely failed in the state. It also reprimanded the DGP. The court said that the police provides security only to ministers and MLAs.

Justice SK Dwivedi’s court reprimanded senior police officials and verbally said that when a sitting judge of the High Court gets stuck in a jam in front of the CM’s residence and it takes him several hours to reach the designated place, then one can imagine what would be the condition of the common people.

The judge said that while returning from the High Court on August 23, he had to stop in front of the CM’s Kanke Road residence due to traffic jam. During this time, the judge’s PSO tried several times to contact several top police officials including the Traffic SP on mobile, but there was no response from the other side.

During this time, he contacted the Registrar General of the High Court after which he spoke to the DGP. After the instructions of the DGP, the Justice was taken out of the jam. During this time, he remained stuck in the jam for more than half an hour.

The DGP told the court that such an incident will not happen again. He said that there has been some lapse in the security arrangements. The court asked him that when events like dharna-demonstration take place in Ranchi city, how are thousands of people allowed to enter the capital?

Let us tell you that on August 23, BJP Yuva Morcha had organized a rally in Morhabadi ground, about two kilometers away from the Chief Minister’s residence in Ranchi. During this, there was a traffic jam in the city.
