Joe Root has created a new history at Lord’s ground. He has become the first batsman to score 7 centuries on this ground. Root scored his first century on this ground against Australia in 2013. Before Root, Graham Gooch and Michael Vaughan have scored 6 centuries each on this ground.
Most runs scored at home ground
Joe Root has also topped the list of most runs scored in Test cricket on English soil. 33-year-old Joe Root has played 77 home Test matches, in which he has scored 6,733 runs at a strong average of 55.64. During this, he has scored 21 centuries and 32 fifties. Earlier this record was in the name of Alastair Cook, who had scored 6,568 runs in 89 home Test matches.
