Jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh stolen from Gurugram shop, former driver arrested from Delhi, told this reason for theft

The thief who stole jewelry worth Rs 50 lakh from a shop in Gurugram, Haryana has finally been caught by the police. The thief turned out to be none other than the shop owner’s former driver, who had driven his car for a few months. The police have recovered the jewelry and other items from him.

Gurugram Police on Thursday informed PTI that a person has been arrested for stealing jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh from his former employer’s shop where he worked as a driver. The accused has been identified as Sandeep, a resident of Rasulpur village in Palwal. He is 26 years old.

Gurugram Police arrested him from Rajouri Garden area of ​​Delhi on the basis of a tip-off. Police recovered stolen jewellery, a motorcycle and the hammer used in the crime from his possession.

A spokesperson of Gurugram Police said in this case that a complaint of theft of jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh from a shop in Sector 66 of Gurugram was received on Wednesday. An FIR was registered in this regard at Sector 65 police station. After this, investigation was started and a joint team arrested the accused from Delhi.

The police spokesperson further said that during interrogation, the police came to know that the accused had worked as a driver for the complainant for about two months. He used to drive his car. But due to his bad behavior, the shop owner fired him from the job.

After being caught, the police interrogated the accused Sandeep for a long time. When he was asked the reason for the theft, he told the police that his mother is suffering from cancer and he has a debt of Rs 10 lakh. He had committed the theft to repay that debt.
