Story of fake Shri Krishna

It is mentioned in Bhagwat Purana and Mahabharata that in Dwapar Yuga, there was an arrogant king named Paundrak, who used to claim himself to be Shri Krishna. He used to say this because his father’s name was also Vasudev. To prove himself to be the real Krishna, he created an illusion. The fake Krishna had illusionary powers. Paundrak had created a fake Sudarshan Chakra through illusionary powers. He also kept a fake Kostub Mani with him. He also used to wear a peacock feather on his forehead and claimed that he was the real Krishna.

Battle of fake Krishna with Shri Krishna

Raja Paundrak was the king of the Pundra region. His area is believed to be around Kashi. It is believed that he had a good friendship with the King of Kashi. Raja Paundrak used his magic to spread the word in the surrounding areas that he was Shri Krishna. Once Raja Paundrak, under the influence of his close friends, sent a message to Lord Krishna that I am the real Krishna. Now either you leave Mathura or fight with me.

At first, Shri Krishna did not pay attention to his threat, but after some time when Paundrak’s activities started increasing, Shri Krishna accepted his challenge. After this, Lord Krishna got ready for war with King Paundrak. When Lord Krishna reached the battlefield, he saw that King Paundrak looked exactly like him. In a short time, Lord Krishna defeated King Paundrak by using Sudarshan Chakra.
