This time the auspicious time for the worship of Shri Krishna will be from 12.00 to 12.44 midnight. During this period, Shri Krishna will be born and Janmotsav will be celebrated.
On the day of Janmashtami, take a vow to fast or do puja after taking a bath in the morning. Consume only water or fruits throughout the day. Remain sattvic. Then at midnight, keep the metal idol of Lord Krishna in a vessel. Bathe the idol with milk, curd, honey, sugar and finally ghee. This is called Panchamrit Snan.
