Officials said that the encounter started near the Line of Control in Keran sector of North Kashmir district. They said that firing is going on and detailed details are awaited. Two soldiers injured in an encounter with terrorists

Two Army jawans were injured in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district late Wednesday night, officials said. The encounter took place in Jaddan Bata village in Kastigarh area around 2 am when militants opened fire on a temporary security camp set up in a government school to conduct a search operation, officials said. According to officials, the security forces retaliated and the firing between the two sides continued for over an hour.

Two army personnel sustained minor injuries

According to officials, two army personnel were slightly injured in the firing by terrorists. They said that efforts are on to eliminate the terrorists. On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, terrorists killed four army personnel including a captain, after which a massive search operation was launched in Desa and surrounding forest areas. Thursday is the fourth day of the search operation. Earlier, on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, there was firing between security forces and terrorists for some time at two places in the forests of Desa.

Doda district, which was freed from terrorism in 2005, has been witnessing a series of terror attacks since June 12, when six security personnel were injured in a terror attack at Chattargala Pass. A policeman was also injured in a shootout in Gandoh the next day. Subsequently, three terrorists were killed in a day-long operation in Gandoh area of ​​the district on June 26, while another encounter took place in Ghadi Bhagwa forest on July 9.

A total of 27 people, including 11 security personnel, a Village Defence Guard and five militants, have been killed in nearly 12 terror attacks in six districts of Jammu province since the beginning of this year. These dead also include seven pilgrims returning from Shiv Khori temple in Reasi district on June 9.
