Jammu and Kashmir news: A total of 28 people, including civilians and security personnel, were killed in 11 terror incidents and 24 encounters or counter-terror operations till July 21 this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

28 people died in 11 terrorism related incidents

Replying to a question by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pradeep Kumar Singh on behalf of the MHA, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai submitted a written reply in the Lower House, stating that compared to previous years, “there has been a decrease in the number of terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.”

What did the Union Minister say about the landslide in Wayanad?

Apart from sharing information about terrorist incidents, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai also commented on the deaths caused by the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala in Parliament on Tuesday. Giving a statement in the Lok Sabha and then in the Rajya Sabha regarding this tragic natural disaster, Rai said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is monitoring the situation and the central government is committed to provide all possible assistance to the state.

There is a problem due to breakdown in Wayanad

He said that the National Disaster Response Force personnel are engaged in relief and rescue work and two army contingents are also reaching the spot. Rai said that two helicopters of the Indian Air Force have been deployed, but due to bad weather, they are facing difficulty in landing.

He said, “More than 300 rescue personnel from NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), fire services, civil defence, police and local emergency response force have been deployed for rescue and relief operations. Three additional NDRF teams with search and rescue equipment are on the way and dog squads have also been deployed for search and rescue operations.”
