Terrorists opened fire on a police team in Thana Mandi area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists fled after firing. The army has launched a search operation in a joint operation.
According to officials, the firing took place around 7:30 pm when the police and the Rashtriya Rifles team were conducting a search operation in Lower Karyote village under Thana Mandi. The operation was launched after receiving information regarding suspicious activities in the area.
According to reports, the terrorists opened fire on the search team when they saw them approaching and when the security forces retaliated, they fled taking advantage of the darkness. Fortunately, there is no information about anyone being injured or killed in this incident so far.
After the firing, the police and Indian Army team cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the attackers. Additional forces have been deployed to ensure the safety of the people and keep a close watch on the situation.
Officials said they were on high alert and trying to find those responsible for the attack. The incident is another link in the ongoing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, where soldiers are facing major terrorist activities.
