Jal Jeevan Mission scam, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Sanjay Badaya, a close aide of former water supply minister Mahesh Joshi, in Rajasthan’s Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scam. This is the fourth arrest made by the ED in this case under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. ED sources said Badaya was produced in court late Tuesday evening and was taken on four-day remand. Officials said Badaya was called to the ED office at 9 am and was questioned for about five hours.

Sanjay Badaya is close to minister Mahesh Joshi

An ED official said that they have found some evidence and documents which show that Badaya was playing an active role in money laundering related to this scam. The official said that during the raids conducted at 18 to 20 places in Jaipur in September last year, information was received about the illegally earned money.

During the investigation, it was found that Sanjay Badaya was in contact with private contractors and middlemen and was taking bribes on behalf of PHED officials. He was playing the role of a link between the officials and contractors. The investigation revealed that Sanjay Badaya was the right hand man of former PHED minister Mahesh Joshi and he also had interference in the office and its files. So far, the ED has arrested Piyush Jain and his father Padam Chand Jain and Mahesh Mittal in this case.
