A day after a photo of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is lodged in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in a murder case, smoking a cigarette in the open lawn went viral, a video has surfaced. In this new video, Darshan is seen talking on a phone call.
The clip begins with a man in a yellow T-shirt smiling warmly at another person on a video call. As the call progresses, the other man moves the camera away from his face. He hands over the device to someone standing nearby and moments later, Darshan’s face appears on the screen.
Actor Darshan greeted the man by waving his hand happily. The man pointed towards his mouth and asked if the actor had eaten food. Darshan smiled and nodded in response. After chatting for a while, both of them said goodbye to each other.
7 jail officials suspended
On the leak of actor Darshan’s photo from jail, Karnataka Home Minister said, ‘I got information at 4.30 pm that Darshan and 4 people were resting while drinking tea. I spoke to DG Jail and sent officers to the spot. Investigation was done till 1 am. 7 officers are being suspended in the case.
He said that senior officials like the jail superintendent will be transferred. This incident should not have happened. We have installed cameras, CCTV and jammers. Despite this, this has happened.
What is the whole matter?
Actor Darshan and Pavitra Gowda are among the 17 people arrested in the Renukaswamy murder case. Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old auto driver and a fan of the Kannada actor, was found near a flyover in Bengaluru on June 9. According to the police, Renukaswamy was abducted and killed by a gang on the instructions of the actor as he had allegedly sent objectionable messages to actress Pavitra Gowda on social media. Pavitra Gowda is rumoured to be Darshan’s partner.
On August 21, a Bengaluru court had extended the judicial custody of Darshan, Pavitra and others till August 28. Earlier, reacting to the viral photo, Renukaswamy’s father Shiva Gowda had urged the state government to take action against the actor.

Shiva Gowda said, “When Darshan asked for home-cooked food, he was not allowed to eat it. We have faith in the police and the justice system. I am completely surprised how this happened. This is shocking news for me, I request the government to investigate and take action.”
