Bollywood’s most handsome actor Ranbir Kapoor started his career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. The film proved to be the biggest flop of Bhansali’s career, but Ranbir’s career took off. Although everyone wants their debut film to be a superhit, Ranbir doesn’t believe so. He said that it was good that the film flopped.
Debut with Sanjay’s film
Ranbir Kapoor believes that it was right for the film Saawariya to flop. He told the reason for this in a podcast given to Nikhil Kamat. Ranbir told that he was sitting outside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office with his resume. This was very important for his life.
Ranbir said that after completing his studies, when he wanted to debut in Bollywood, he expressed his desire to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. ”When I came back, every director or producer in the industry wanted to launch me. But I was a big fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I thought, maybe he doesn’t know me. So I made my biodata and sat outside his office.
I am happy that the film did not do well
Ranbir started working with Bhansali as an assistant director. He faced a lot of problems in this, but because of this he became strong. He said- I waited, and although Sanjay Leela Bhansali was not there initially, he saw my biodata and recognized who I am. The first time we met, he said- I want to make a film with you. Because of him I became strong.
When ‘Saawariya’ was released, it proved to be a big disaster at the box office. On this, Ranbir said- Now when I look back, I am happy that the film did not do well, because it had prepared me for my future life.
Ranbir Kapoor has revealed that Sanjay harassed him a lot. ‘He was a strict task-master and I was on my knees on the set, he was beating me…after a while it became so much and I felt so harassed that at one point I felt I had to leave the film. I think I had been on the job for 10 or 11 months and I felt like saying ‘Listen, I can’t do this, it’s getting to me.’
However, forgetting everything, Ranbir and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are going to work together after years. Their love and war movie will be released soon.
