During the struggle, Pearsall and Kishore were wounded by Kishore’s gunshot wounds. Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan shared some details about his message to the team shortly after learning of the shooting.
Shanahan said he spoke with Pearsall by phone shortly after he was injured, and 49ers general manager John Lynch went to the hospital to check on the rookie.
Shanahan, who is entering his eighth season as the Niners’ head coach, also noted that the team’s mood changed after Pearsall’s teammates learned about what happened.
“Yeah, once everyone went in. No one knew the exact story, so I was able to assure everyone as soon as we got there that he was absolutely fine, and it was a miracle,” Shanahan told the media on Thursday. “I think where he got shot is like two inches below his tattoo with the praying hands. The whole story is kind of amazing.”
Shanahan added that Pearsall was finally able to join a FaceTime call with his teammates.
“But to tell everybody as soon as they walked in — you can’t call the whole team — but to tell everybody right when they got there, that was really cool. And then, about two hours later, Ricky came and talked to everyone.
A High School Senior Charge Pearsall was arraigned in juvenile court Wednesday on a weekend charge of attempted murder and his attorney said he was sorry for what happened.
