Palestine is once again in the headlines after the latest attack by the Israeli army. According to the agency, Gaza health officials said that an Israeli airstrike took place on a house in the middle of the city of Khan Younis on Sunday (July 28). During this, 10 people were killed, including a four-month-old girl. The Israeli army sent tanks to the southern areas of the Gaza Strip on Sunday as the battle with Hamas continued.

The Israeli army said the raid in the eastern Khan Younis area was in response to new attacks and was also an attempt to prevent Hamas from regrouping. The army said dozens of fighters were killed and military infrastructure was destroyed.

So far 39 thousand deaths in Gaza

Gaza health officials said 66 Palestinian civilians were killed across the territory in Israeli military strikes in the past 24 hours. A total of more than 39,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in Israeli air strikes, which do not distinguish between combatants and non-combatants.

On Sunday, the Israeli military issued an evacuation order for those living in the Gaza Strip, warning civilians that it would face “forceful action”. The Hamas-run Civil Defence Agency said five people were killed in an Israeli attack on tents housing displaced Palestinians in a humanitarian zone in the town of Khan Younis.

Israel preparing for a major attack on Hezbollah

Sporadic fighting between Israel and Hezbollah escalated on October 8, a day after Hamas’ attack on Israel, when Hezbollah fired on Israeli targets in solidarity with Palestinian civilians.

The Israeli military has claimed that Hezbollah fired rockets at Israeli targets in northern Israel and the Golan Heights, fired anti-tank missiles at armored vehicles and attacked military targets with explosive drones. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) retaliated with airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Israel attacked Hezbollah targets and threatened further retaliation for the rocket attack.

A rocket blast in the Golan Heights on Saturday killed 12 people, in the worst incident of civilian casualties in Israel since Hamas attacked southern Israeli villages and military targets on October 7. The rocket attack hit a soccer field and killed children aged 10 to 16. Israel has claimed that Hezbollah fired a Falaq-1 Iranian rocket at them.

At the same time, the Iran-backed group (Hezbollah) said that it had ‘no connection’ with this incident. At the same time, the rocket attack has raised fears of a major conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Netanyahu’s meeting with military chiefs

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to make Hezbollah pay a ‘heavy price’. He has held several meetings with his security cabinet and military chiefs to decide on this. At the same time, Iran issued a warning saying that any new military attack by Israel in Lebanon could lead to ‘unpredictable consequences’.

Israel says it cannot compromise with enemies who have sworn to destroy it and who have been blacklisted as terrorists in the West. According to the report, some senior Israeli officials are in favor of a ceasefire in Gaza, after which Hezbollah has assured not to attack Israel.
