Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel has struck a “severe blow” against Hezbollah and Hamas. However, he has refrained from taking responsibility for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political wing, was assassinated early Wednesday. Both Hamas and Iran blamed Israel for the killing and vowed to retaliate.

Netanyahu said Tel Aviv was prepared for any situation after the killing of Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukar. He stressed that the war on Gaza would not stop. In a recorded message broadcast by local media, Netanyahu said, “From the very beginning of the war, I made it clear that we are fighting against the evil of Iran.”

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that if any kind of attack takes place on his country, then it will have to be paid for heavily. This is his first public statement after Ismail Haniya was killed in an airstrike in Tehran.

Netanyahu said, “The coming days are going to be challenging, and threats are being made from everywhere since the attack in Beirut. He insisted, “I have not and will not give in to those voices.” He justified his stubborn policy by saying, “If we had surrendered, we would not have been able to destroy the terrorists and their infrastructure, we would not have been able to control the Philadelphia corridor, and we would not have been able to create the conditions that would bring us closer to the hostage release plan.”

Israel announced the killing of 63-year-old Shukr in an airstrike on Beirut on Tuesday. Hezbollah confirmed the death of a prominent Hezbollah military officer late Wednesday. Hours after the attack on Shukr, Hamas said Israel had killed Ismail Haniya in an airstrike targeting his home in Tehran.
