Israel continues to attack Gaza amid fears of a fierce war with Iran, 18 people killed

The Israeli army continued to attack near the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, amid international pressure for a deal to stop the fighting in Gaza and prevent a wider regional conflict with Iran and its allies. Palestinian doctors said at least 18 people were killed and many injured in Israeli military attacks on Khan Younis on Monday. Meanwhile, many families and displaced people came out of the attacked area due to new evacuation orders. People were asked to vacate the area.

Israeli airstrikes killed five people in the Zeitoun suburb of Gaza City and two others in Rafah, near the Egyptian border, doctors said. As fighting continues, Hamas has cast doubt on new talks brokered by Egypt and Qatar scheduled for Thursday, saying it has seen no movement from the Israeli side.

The group said on Sunday that mediators should force Israel to accept a ceasefire proposal based on US President Joe Biden’s views.

Two sources close to Hamas told Reuters that the group believed the new call for talks was coordinated with Israel in advance, saying it was done to prevent reactions from Iran and Hezbollah for the killing of the group’s head Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and a top Hezbollah leader in Lebanon.

This allegation on Netanyahu
A Palestinian official involved in the mediation effort said you could say it was a mild rejection. If Hamas gets a workable plan, gets a positive Israeli response to the proposal, things could change, but so far Hamas believes Netanyahu is not serious about reaching an agreement. Hamas’s response to the talks came at a time when preparations for a large-scale confrontation have increased. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant told US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that Iran is preparing for a major military attack on Israel.
