Is there going to be a change of power in Pakistan again? Bilawal Bhutto is ready to talk to Imran Khan

It is believed that political instability is brewing once again in Pakistan. The government led by Shahbaz Sharif seems to be faltering. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) ally Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is saying that they are in touch with Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Such a statement from the PPP has come after President Asif Ali Zardari recently said in one of his statements that he knows how governments are formed and toppled. PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says that if Imran Khan is ready for talks, he would like to talk. Party leader Khurshid Shah gave this information and said that President Asif Ali Zardari always solves problems through talks.

PPP is an ally of the PML-N government

The talks have been triggered by Imran Khan’s strong opposition to the current Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government. The PPP is currently an ally of the PML-N in a coalition with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P). After the February 8 elections, the PPP and PML-N reached an agreement and formed a new government under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif.

Since the ouster of Imran Khan from power through a no-confidence motion in 2022, the PTI has strongly opposed the PPP-PML-N coalition government. In fact, the PTI has not been in favor of talks with the current government, which has termed the Shahbaz Sharif-led government as a ‘Form-47 government’. This is because in the February 8 elections, PTI leaders had claimed that ‘Form-47’ of victory was not given and the vote counting was manipulated.

Imran’s party is in a mood to talk to the army as well

PTI had also accused the Pakistan Army of toppling the Imran government, which allegedly carried out this task in a deal with the US. However, now it is being said that PTI is in a mood to talk to the army as well. For example, in April, PTI leader Shahryar Afridi had hinted at talks with Army Chief Asim Munir and ISI Director General.

Not only this, PTI Secretary Omar Ayub said that Imran Khan has entrusted some important tasks to former President Arif Alvi. Last month, party president Gohar Khan had also clarified that Imran Khan has agreed to hold talks with the government.

Is there going to be a change of power in Pakistan?

Pakistan, which is facing economic crisis, needs funds from the International Monetary Fund. For this, the IMF has demanded to follow some rules and change some policies. After this, the discussion of imposing tax in Pakistan intensified. There is opposition among the people at the local level regarding this. President Asif Ali Zardari had also accused PML-N of not being able to manage the government properly due to the financial crisis.

President Zardari said in an interview this month, “We know how governments are formed and toppled … We will not abandon our people.” He promised that his Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would take decisive action. For example, if political instability increases in Pakistan, a regime change can also be expected.
