Is everything resolved between Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Maurya or is it the calm before the storm?

Both Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak also attended the cabinet meeting held at CM Yogi Adityanath’s house in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Yesterday, all three had also attended the NDA meeting together. In this way, on one hand, it seems that peace has been restored in Uttar Pradesh BJP. But on the other hand, some such things are still happening which makes it seem that this is the calm before the storm.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday chaired a meeting of senior police officials including the Director General of Police and directed them to curb the rising corruption in the state. Not only this, with the picture of this meeting, the state’s Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya wrote on Instagram – ‘I held a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Mr. Prashant Kumar and senior police officers regarding law and order during the monsoon session in the Legislative Council and instructed to solve the problems of the public at police stations on a priority basis, curb the rising corruption. Efforts are being made to comprehensively curb the rising incidents of cyber crime’.

With this tweet by Keshav Prasad Maurya, the smell of the Yogi vs Keshav rivalry started coming once again in the political corridors of UP and among the media people. Many journalists of UP started calling it a glimpse of the times to come. Some of these journalists were from big media houses. They wanted to prove that the fight between Yogi vs Keshav is not over yet. Not only this, when some leaders of Samajwadi Party started raising questions on the government in this regard, the matter became more serious. Actually, such meetings are held only by the CM or the Home Minister. Since CM Yogi Adityanath himself has kept the Home Ministry with himself in UP, it was natural to have doubts. But the reality is something else.

what is the matter

In fact, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been holding meetings with the state’s DGP. Suddenly, seeing Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya holding a meeting alone with the acting DGP and several senior officers, the rumour market got heated up. Some people started thinking that Keshav Prasad Maurya could be the future Home Minister. A journalist from a big media house once again batted in favour of Keshav Prasad Maurya regarding this meeting at around 11 am on Tuesday. However, the journalists who made a mountain out of a molehill of this meeting know that such meetings are routine meetings.

Meanwhile, the opposition also demanded an explanation from CM Yogi Adityanath after seeing Maurya’s meeting with top police officials. Samajwadi Party leader and former minister I.P. Singh wrote that Keshav Prasad Maurya is a cabinet minister. In what capacity is he holding meetings with the top (police) officials of the state? The Chief Minister is helpless. Any cabinet minister can hold a meeting of his department but the right to hold a meeting of the top officials of the state is reserved only with the Chief Minister.

The BJP government has created an atmosphere of anarchy in Uttar Pradesh. Just as the powers are vested in the Prime Minister, similarly the powers of the state are vested in the Chief Minister. The paper Deputy Chief Minister is misusing the law. Such dictatorship will not benefit Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister should give his explanation on this.

Actually, Keshav Prasad Maurya is the leader of the House in the Legislative Council. In this capacity, he has also held a meeting with the senior police officers of the state in the winter session in 2023. The screenshot of the photo taken from his Facebook profile is attached below. Since Maurya wrote such a caption with the photo, rumors started spreading. Maurya had written that he has ordered the police to solve the problems of the public at the police stations on a priority basis, curb the growing corruption and make efforts to curb the increasing incidents of cyber crime. Based on this order of Maurya, people started making a mountain out of a molehill. Maurya is anyway the Deputy CM of the state. And he can give such an order to the police. It seemed like peace had returned

After the uproar in UP BJP for the last one month, on Monday it seemed that now peace has returned. Perhaps this peace seemed to be the result of the Delhi meeting. Peace was visible in the changed behavior of UP CM Yogi Adityanath himself. The way Yogi was seen with both the deputy CMs in the NDA meeting, it felt that perhaps a truce has been reached. Both the deputy CMs were seen with the CM in the press briefing. It is believed that in the meeting of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with BL Santosh in Delhi, some things were said about the change in the methods of governance because the complaints of MLAs to ministers are only about the arbitrariness of the officers and the methods of governance. A different style was also visible in the personal behavior of CM Yogi.

On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself was going ahead and meeting not only the people of the ruling party but also the opposition in the House. CM Yogi, who always reaches the House on time at 11 o’clock, reached the House 5 minutes earlier on Monday. Instead of sitting directly on his seat, CM Yogi himself started reaching out to the MLAs, whether they were MLAs-ministers of his party or other big leaders of the opposition. There was a competition among the MLAs to touch his feet.

A different style was seen in the state working committee meeting of OBC Morcha

By the time the state working committee meeting of OBC Morcha was held in Lucknow on Monday, the atmosphere had become the same as before. UP CM Yogi Adityanath and both Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya along with Brajesh Pathak were invited to this meeting. If the relations had become normal, both Deputy CMs would not have left the meeting just before Yogi Adityanath’s arrival. Not only this, while addressing the OBC Morcha meeting, Keshav Prasad Maurya again repeated his statement which was the root of the quarrel. Maurya said that the organization is bigger than the government. The Deputy CM said that the party wins the election, not the government. The journalists present in the meeting told that as soon as the saffron towel started being put on CM Yogi’s chair, both the Deputy CMs left the program.
