The death of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh is being discussed all over the world. Israel killed Haniyeh on Wednesday in revenge for the attack of 7 October 2023. At the time when Haniyeh was targeted, he was in Tehran, the capital of Iran. In such a situation, Iran has now ordered an attack on Israel.
The New York Times report quoted three Iranian officials as saying that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered the Iranian army to attack Israel. Khamenei ordered this attack after an emergency meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
According to the report, it is not yet clear what kind of attack it will be and with how much force Iran will attack Israel. But it is certain that the kind of attack Iran did last April on Israeli military bases in Tel Aviv and Haifa will be repeated. This time too Iran can do similar drone and missile attacks. Along with this, Iran can also attack with the help of its allies.

After the confirmation of Haniya’s death, Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei had indicated that Iran would directly attack Israel in revenge. Khamenei had said that we will take revenge for his (Haniya’s) blood because it happened in our region.
Iran and Hamas have blamed Israel for Haniya’s murder. But Israel has so far neither accepted nor denied the attack.
There will be a heavy price to pay!
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that if any kind of attack takes place on his country, then a heavy price will have to be paid for it. This is his first public statement after Ismail Haniya was killed in an airstrike in Tehran.
Israel has a long history of eliminating its enemies. From Iran’s nuclear scientists to military commanders, it has eliminated many of its enemies abroad. Haniya had also gone to Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s newly elected President Pezeshkian, where he was targeted in the attack.
Hamas chief Haniya lived in Doha
The Palestinian organization Hamas has several units, which handle political, military or social work. A consultative body decides the policies of Hamas. Its headquarters is in the Gaza Strip area itself. Till now, the command of Hamas was in the hands of Ismail Haniyya, who was its chairman. He took over this work as the successor of Khalid Meshaal since 2017. He lived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and looked after the work of Hamas from there. In fact, Egypt had banned his movement to Gaza.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had issued a statement saying that Israel had targeted Haniya in Iran, in which the Hamas chief along with one of his bodyguards were killed. Earlier in April, Israeli security forces had also killed Haniya’s three sons. Israel had killed Haniya’s three sons by carrying out an airstrike on the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army IDF had said that Haniya’s three sons Amir, Hazem and Mohammad were going to carry out terrorist activities in Gaza, meanwhile all three came under the grip of air strikes.
