Instead of demanding Kejriwal’s release, INDIA group’s protest on Delhi deaths would have been more effective

The INDIA Block protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi was pre-planned and it did take place. This protest was called by the Aam Aadmi Party against the imprisonment of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Leaders of the opposition alliance partners including AAP participated in the protest.

This protest has taken place at a time when there is an uproar in Delhi over the death of the youth preparing for the civil services. Obviously, Arvind Kejriwal would also be aware of the news, and it should be assumed that like the rest of Delhi, he would definitely be worried about the youth and their families. But, wouldn’t it have been better if the protest was put on hold a bit – it would have been best if the protest would have been on the current situation in Delhi due to which the youth who had left their homes and families to prepare for the civil services had to suddenly leave this world.

Three students preparing for the civil services exam died due to waterlogging in the basement of Rao IAS coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi. Before that, a youth preparing for IAS died due to electric shock. Due to rain, the current passed through the iron gate, which proved fatal.

The cause of death of all the four youngsters is not a natural calamity, but a man-made undertaking. All the four youngsters have fallen prey to the mismanagement of the system – and everyone’s dreams have been strangled in broad daylight.

The sad thing is that instead of trying to fix the system, a phase of blaming each other has begun. On social media too, answers are being sought from the operators of Rao IAA to Dr. Vikas Divyakirti of Drishti IS. However, Vikas Divyakirti has put forth his side by issuing a statement. Illegal classes were being conducted in the basement of Drishti IAS Coaching, which has been sealed.

The issue of the protest could have changed

It would have been better if the INDIA Block protest was postponed for the time being, and if this was not possible then instead of protesting against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, it should have been done against the death of youth in Delhi – the protest would have been effective and the government would have felt the pressure additionally.

Aam Aadmi Party is continuously protesting against Arvind Kejriwal being sent to jail. For this, AAP leaders are adopting every possible trick. Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal is present on every such occasion. Sunita Kejriwal also gave a speech along with other leaders at Jantar Mantar, in which the ruling BJP at the center was targeted.

Rahul Gandhi’s participation in the protest was not confirmed earlier, but Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi and Pramod Tiwari had reached there. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also joined the protest at Jantar Mantar after leaving the Lok Sabha. DMK leader A. Raja, CPI leader D. Raja, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and NCP (SCP) leader Sharad Pawar, CPI-ML leader Dipankar Bhattacharya along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had also reached the protest.

All the leaders in their own way protested strongly against the arrest and imprisonment of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and tried to put the central government in the dock. Old allegations were repeated by Aam Aadmi Party leaders Sanjay Singh and Gopal Rai.

Politics is going on over the death of youth

Shreya Yadav of Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh’s dream of becoming an IAS officer also remained unfulfilled in the accident that took place in a coaching institute in Delhi. Apart from 25-year-old Shreya Yadav, 28-year-old Navin Delvin and 25-year-old Tanya Soni also became victims of the accident.

It is said that when the basement started filling with water, 30 students were present there. Suddenly the basement started filling with water and there was chaos. Ropes had to be used to take out the trapped students. The rescue operation lasted for about 8 hours, but three students remained trapped in the basement, who could not be saved.

A junior engineer has been dismissed and an assistant engineer suspended for being held responsible for the accident – and the state of politics is such that BJP leaders protested against Aam Aadmi Party, while Aam Aadmi Party leaders are protesting against BJP, and both are blaming each other for the accident. BJP is calling the accident a murder, and blaming the Aam Aadmi Party government, is demanding the resignation of Water Minister Atishi.

Delhi government minister Saurabh Bhardwaj says that a big conspiracy has been hatched against the people of Delhi. Saurabh Bhardwaj says, everyone is saying that the work of removing silt from drains and sewers in Delhi was not done properly, and due to that there was waterlogging in the entire Delhi, and the Delhi government can neither transfer the officers nor take action – only LG sahab can do this work.

Was the accident avoidable?

An SUV is also being blamed for the accident. It is being said that due to the high speed of the SUV passing by, the water pressure broke the gate and the basement got flooded – and meanwhile a one year old video has also surfaced which tells a different story.

The video is said to be from July 2023, which was shot by a student of the coaching institute itself. The video shows that last year too, the gate of the coaching institute was broken during the rains, just like it has been broken this time – it is clear that if the solution to the problem had been found earlier, or action had been taken by the administration, the lives of the youth could have been saved.

Arvind Kejriwal’s message from Tihar Jail is that he is more concerned about the people of Delhi than himself. If this is the case, then could Arvind Kejriwal have advised his colleagues to protest on the issue of the death of the youth at Jantar Mantar? The issue of their arrest and imprisonment can be raised later.
It seems that the INDIA block has missed a big opportunity to oppose the central government – otherwise, why would the leaders of INDIA be playing the shehnai untimely at Jantar Mantar for the release of Kejriwal when there is chaos in Delhi?
