A soldier was injured in firing while foiling an infiltration bid by terrorists in Battal sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Army’s White Knight Corps said in a statement on X that the firing took place on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday and the retaliatory action is still underway.
The army unit tweeted, “Alert troops foiled the infiltration attempt by effectively firing on the infiltrating terrorists in Battal sector at 3 am. One braveheart was injured during the heavy firing. The operation is ongoing.”
On Monday morning, security forces foiled twin terror attacks on an Army post and a Village Defence Group (VDG) house in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, leaving a soldier and a civilian injured. The area was cordoned off by a joint team of the Army, police, CRPF and VDG after intermittent exchange of fire with the militants throughout the day, officials said.

According to sources, the army camp was attacked by around three Pakistani terrorists and was located near the residence of the VDG member, who was recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his role in a counter-terrorism operation in the same area in 2023.

Officials said the militants first opened fire at the house of a VDG member in Gundha area of Khawas tehsil and when security personnel retaliated, they hurled grenades. At around 4 am, the militants attacked a newly established army post in the area, triggering a fresh exchange of fire.
The injured soldier and civilian were admitted to hospital
The injured soldier and civilian have been admitted to the hospital. It is being said that one terrorist has been killed, but his body has not been recovered yet. On July 19, security forces killed two terrorists while foiling an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Two soldiers were also injured in another encounter with terrorists in Kastigarh area of Doda district.
