Indian Army is ready and capable to face every challenge, General Upendra Dwivedi’s clear message as soon as he took charge

military general General Upendra Dwivedi, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday said a day after taking charge that the Indian Army is prepared and fully capable to face all the present and future security challenges facing the country. He said that ensuring synergy between the Army, Air Force and Navy will be one of his priorities. Talking to the media after inspecting the Guard of Honour at South Block in Raisina Hills, the newly appointed Army Chief also said that he would encourage the induction of indigenously manufactured military equipment in the army to promote self-reliance in defense.

Priority on creating synergy between the three forces

General Dwivedi said, I will try to establish better coordination between the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. This will protect the national interest. He said that my effort will be that by coordination between the Army, Navy and Air Force and other parties, we should always be ready for war in case of conflict. I assure the country and all the citizens that the Indian Army is ready and fully capable to face all the present and future challenges.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command

These comments have been made amid the ongoing border dispute with China in eastern Ladakh. General Dwivedi was taking over as the Vice-Chief of the Army since February 19. Before taking over as the Deputy Chief, he was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command from 2022-2024. General Dwivedi, an alumnus of Sainik School in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, joined the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles of the Indian Army in 1984.
