India-Vietnam sign MoU: With the aim of further strengthening mutual relations and cooperation and taking it to new heights, India and Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday. It was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnam’s PM Pham Minh Chinh at Hyderabad House in Delhi. The foreign ministers of both the countries were also present on this occasion. Let us tell you that the PM of Vietnam arrived in India on a three-day visit on Tuesday to further expand bilateral strategic relations.

Target to reach US$ 20 billion trade

Chinh, who is in India with a high-level delegation, while addressing the Vietnam-India Business Forum on Wednesday said that the two countries should aim to increase their bilateral trade to US $ 20 billion. He said in the ‘Business Forum’ organized by industry body FICCI, “I would like to request you that we should increase our market access to each other’s products through a suitable FTA between Vietnam and India. We definitely need to discuss this. We have to ensure that our benefits are shared with each other.”

Indian companies expected to invest

Along with this, the Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed hope that Indian companies will continue to invest in Vietnam and will invest more than before. He called upon the companies of both the countries to work together, bring better solutions to increase bilateral trade to $ 20 billion and continue strong cooperation focusing on strategic infrastructure including transport, energy, digital and climate infrastructure. He also attended the launch ceremony of the new flight route between Ahmedabad and Da Nang (Vietnam).

Jaishankar said- waiting for the summit

On Chinh’s arrival in India, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said in a post on ‘X’, “I am honored to meet Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his state visit to India. I appreciate his guidance on our bilateral relations and regional and global issues of mutual interest.” He said, “Looking forward to his summit talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.
