India Squad for Bagladesh Test Series 2024: Indian team to be announced against Bangladesh soon, BCCI will give chance to these players, this player will return after 634 days

The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is starting from 19 September. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is soon going to announce the team for this upcoming series. The first match will be played in Chennai from 19 September and the second match will be played in Kanpur from 27 September.

The Indian cricket team will play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Keep in mind that the Indian team will play its first red-ball series since March 2024, where they defeated England 4-1.

The Bangladesh team is coming to India after winning a historic series against Pakistan, where it crushed Pakistan 2-0. The BCCI will announce the Indian team next week and there will be no major changes in the team. This series will also be the first red-ball series for the new Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir.

A source close to the BCCI revealed that the performance in the first round of the Duleep Trophy is not expected to have any significant impact on the team selection at least for the Bangladesh series. Virat Kohli will return to Test cricket for the first time since January. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the innings.

Rohit

Sarfaraz Khan is certain to be in the team. The trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel can be included as spin bowling all-rounders. Everyone’s eyes will also be on Rishabh Pant, who can make a comeback in the team. Pant will return to the Indian team for the Test match after 634 days. He was out of the team after a road accident.

He made a comeback in the IPL earlier this year and then in the T20 World Cup for India. Along with him, young Dhruv Jurel will also be a part of the team as the second wicketkeeper. Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj and Mukesh Kumar are likely to get a place in the team.

Both Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh will fight for the last remaining spot. This series will be very important in view of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will be held in Australia later this year.

Probable squads for Bangladesh series: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, Devdutt Padikkal, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep/Arshdeep Singh
