India got 16th medal in Paris Paralympics, Deepti Jeevanji won bronze in 400 meter race

The excellent performance of Indian athletes continues in the Paris Paralympic Games. On Tuesday, Indian runner Deepti Jeevanji added another medal to India’s kitty and she won the bronze medal in the women’s 400 meter T20 event. With this medal, India’s medal tally has reached 16 and it is currently at number 18 in the medal tally. The T20 category is for intellectually challenged players.

2024 world champion Deepti Jeevanji won the bronze medal among nine athletes with a timing of 55.82 seconds. This was India’s third medal in a track event at the Paralympics, before this Preeti Pal had won two bronze medals at the Paris Paralympics last week. This is her first Paralympic medal.

Deepti had made a world record this year

Talking about Deepti Jeevanji, earlier this year she set a new world record in the 400m T20 event at the World Para Athletics Championship 2024 in Kobe. She completed her race in a world record time of 55.07 seconds. She also won a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023. She has trained at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Center in Hyderabad, India.

Talking about the current Paris Paralympics, India has won a total of 16 medals with 3 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals.
