India vs Sri Lanka Women’s Asia Cup Final: The Sri Lankan women’s team has created history in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 tournament played at home. The final match was played in Dambulla on Sunday (28 July), in which Sri Lanka defeated the Indian women’s team by 8 wickets and won the title for the first time.

So far, 9 seasons of the Women’s Asia Cup have been held (including 2024), out of which the Indian team has been the champion 7 times. The last time the Women’s Asia Cup was played was in 2022. Then India won the trophy by defeating Sri Lanka in the final match.

Out of the last 8 seasons of Women’s Asia Cup, Bangladesh has won the 2018 season only once. India has won 7 times. But this 9th season, Sri Lankan team has created history by winning. On the other hand, Pakistan team has not been able to win any Women’s Asia Cup title till now.

In the match, the Indian team won the toss and batted first and set a target of 166 runs. In reply, the Sri Lankan team lost 2 wickets and won the match and the title in just 18.4 overs. Harshita Samarawickrama played the highest unbeaten innings of 69 runs for the team.

While captain Chameera Atapattu hit 61 runs. Kavisha Dilhari remained unbeaten after scoring 30 runs off 16 balls. No bowler from India could leave a mark. Only Deepti Sharma could take one wicket. She made captain Chameera her victim.

Mandhana played a strong half-century innings for India

On the other hand, the Indian team scored 165 runs after losing 6 wickets. Opener Smriti Mandhana played an innings of 60 runs in 47 balls for the team. Apart from her, wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh scored 30 and Jemimah Rodrigues scored 29 runs. While in bowling for Sri Lanka, Kavisha took the maximum of 2 wickets.
