In which direction is cyclone ASNA moving? Meteorological department gave this update, rain alert in many areas of Gujarat

The people of Gujarat have heaved a sigh of relief as the storm ASNA has turned westward. However, there is still a possibility of rain in the coastal areas, in view of which the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for many places. The Meteorological Department said on Saturday that the storm will continue to move westward over the Arabian Sea and its intensity will remain intact till the morning of September 1.

The weather department said, ‘ASNA is moving westwards at a speed of 15 kmph during the last 6 hours and is likely to lay centred at 5.30 pm Indian time on August 31, 2024 over central parts of North Eastern region, 500 km west of Nalia (Gujarat), 350 km west-southwest of Karachi, 190 km south-southeast of Pasni (Pakistan) and 580 km east of Muscat (Oman).’

The intensity will continue till September 1

The Meteorological Department said on the social media platform X, ‘It (ASNA) is likely to continue moving westward over the northeast and northwest Arabian Sea and maintain its intensity till the morning of September 1. Thereafter, it will gradually weaken into a depression over the northwest Arabian Sea by the morning of September 2, 2024.’

Earlier, the Meteorological Department (IMD) had reported that Cyclone ASNA, which was earlier hovering over the north-east Arabian Sea near Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts, has moved westwards and is now 310 km west of Nalia in Gujarat. It is likely to move away from the Indian coast in the next 24 hours, bringing relief to the residents of Gujarat, who were bracing for its impact. No heavy rains are expected in the state in the coming days.

No chance of heavy rain anywhere

Heavy rains and floods have caused a lot of devastation in Gujarat. But now the people of Gujarat are going to get some relief. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain in Gujarat for the next five days.

According to IMD, there is no red alert for heavy rain anywhere in Gujarat for the next five days. Along with this, the threat of Asna cyclone in the coastal areas of Kutch has also been averted. The cyclone has moved towards Oman.

Yellow alert for rain issued

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Kutch, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Porbandar, Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli in Gujarat today. According to IMD, there is no orange or red alert for rain anywhere in the entire state.

Tomorrow, i.e. on September 1, a yellow alert has been issued for rain in Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli in Gujarat. On September 2, an orange alert has been issued for Vadodara and Chhotaudepur in Gujarat and a yellow alert for rain has been issued for Bhavnagar, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Bharuch and Narmada.
