The Rajasthan government has taken a big decision regarding cows. The words used for cows will be banned and a new word has been suggested for this. Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Zoraram Kumawat said, “Now the word ‘stray’ will not be used for cows in Rajasthan.” Responding to the debate on the grant demand of the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department in the Rajasthan Assembly on Wednesday, Zoraram Kumawat said that from now on the word ‘niraashrit’ will be used for stray cows.
According to the agency, the minister said that “the state government is committed to make livestock farmers economically self-reliant by developing valuable animal wealth and increasing livestock production. The state government is also working sensitively for the protection and promotion of cows and bulls.”
After discussion in the House, the Assembly passed the grant demands of the department by voice vote.

Constitution of Chief Minister’s Animal Husbandry Development Fund
Joraram Kumawat said that Chief Minister Animal Husbandry Development Fund will be constituted in the state with a provision of Rs 250 crore. Along with this, ‘Mukhyamantri Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana’ will be started including other animals along with dairy animals. He said in the assembly that animal fairs will be organized in a phased manner in all the districts for the convenience of animal breeders.
653.65 crores for cow shelters
The Rajasthan government has approved a grant of Rs 653.65 crore to cow shelters this financial year. Gaupalan Minister Zoraram Kumawat told the Assembly on Thursday that the Rajasthan government has issued administrative approval for a grant of Rs 653.65 crore to cow shelters this financial year. The minister was responding to supplementary questions asked by an MLA during Question Hour. Kumawat said that administrative approval of Rs 653.65 crore has been issued for grants to 2,843 cow shelters till July 22 in the financial year 2024-25.
