Landslides have caused havoc amid heavy rains in Kerala. So far, 93 people have been confirmed dead. Meanwhile, the threat of natural calamity is not over yet. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in 4 districts of the state. At the same time, there is an orange alert in 7 districts. According to the IMD, there is a red alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kasargod in Kerala. Apart from this, an orange alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts.

Red alert issued in 4 districts of Kerala

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rains and strong winds of up to 50 kmph in Malappuram, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kannur, Palakkad and Thrissur districts of Kerala. Due to heavy rains in these districts of Kerala, floods and waterlogging can be seen. At the same time, landslides can also occur at some places. Therefore, instructions have been given to take extra precautions in these districts.

Thiruvananthapuram Weather

Let us tell you that Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram is receiving heavy rainfall these days, due to which many areas are waterlogged. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in Thiruvananthapuram till August 3. According to IMD, the maximum temperature of Thiruvananthapuram is likely to remain around 29 to 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 24 to 25 degrees Celsius throughout this week.

Landslide occurred in Wayanad, Kerala

A landslide has occurred in Wayanad, Kerala amid heavy rains. More than 116 people are trapped in it. A large-scale rescue operation is being carried out to save people. According to the information given by the Chief Minister, 93 people have died so far. Some children are also among the dead. Along with the Army, the Navy has also been deployed for the rescue operation. PM Modi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of those who lost their lives due to the landslide in Wayanad. Apart from this, an announcement has been made to give Rs 50 thousand to the injured.
