If your child is also addicted to mobile, then know UN’s warning

Excessive use of technology has a negative impact on children’s education, yet only one in four countries bans smartphones in schools. In particular, the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) report emphasizes that keeping mobile phones around children distracts them, and this affects their studies.

The United Nations says that despite this awareness, less than 25% of countries have banned the use of smartphones in educational settings. A report released by UNESCO says that excessive use of devices affects children’s academic performance.

It takes time to refocus

The report says that whether it is a mobile phone or a computer, children can get distracted and in such a situation their learning environment at school or home gets affected. Research shows that once a student gets distracted due to technology, it can take 20 minutes for him to concentrate again.

Tech should be used only for education

According to the report, teachers have to face major challenges related to the use of technology in the classroom. For example, when students use non-educational websites such as social media, there is noise in the classroom.

The UN Education Department says that technology should be used in classrooms only for education. They said that classrooms and education system have changed in rich countries. Screens have replaced paper and pens have replaced keyboards.

Due to Coronavirus, the education system across the world changed overnight and the entire system became online, but data shows that this affects the learning of students and excessive use of technology deteriorates their academic performance.
