‘If we can create Bangladesh, we can also intervene to protect Hindus’, said Baba Ramdev, RSS’s Bhaiyaji Joshi also made a statement

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Tuesday condemned the targeted attacks on Hindu temples, homes and business establishments in Bangladesh. He called upon the central government to make every possible effort politically and diplomatically to protect the Hindu minorities in the neighboring country. He said that some people are glorifying the Bangladesh incident on social media with the intention of creating instability in India too, strict action needs to be taken against them.

Baba Ramdev said, ‘The entire country will have to remain united to ensure that there is no cruelty, oppression, excesses or injustice against our Hindu brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. The way Islamic fundamentalism is growing in the world and has now entered India’s neighbourhood, it can be very dangerous for our country. I am afraid that the honour of Hindu daughters may come to the fore. What Islamic fundamentalists are doing to Hindus in Bangladesh is wrong. We will have to unite in India and show the power of Hindus to the world.’

Some people want Bangladesh-like situation in India: Baba Ramdev

Ramdev said, ‘Communal violence is at its peak in Bangladesh. Jamaat-e-Islami and all fundamentalist forces are showing their cruelty. Any such incident should not be repeated. It will not be tolerated. If we can create Bangladesh, then we can also intervene there to protect our Hindu brothers. To protect them (Islamic fundamentalists), there are some political people, social and religious terrorists who want a situation like Bangladesh to happen in India. Such people will also have to be stopped.’

Government should ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh: Bhaiyaji Joshi

Senior RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi has also reacted to the targeting of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. He said, ‘The Indian government should take appropriate steps on the Bangladesh issue. We are requesting the government to ensure that the Hindus there remain safe. We are confident that the government will take appropriate steps.’ The statements of Baba Ramdev and Bhaiyaji Joshi have come a day after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh. Let us tell you that Sheikh Hasina left the country after resigning from the post of Prime Minister of Bangladesh on August 5, 2024 and is currently in India.

Hasina was forced to resign and flee Bangladesh after student protests against her government turned violent. Currently, the army has taken over in Bangladesh and the process of forming an interim government is underway. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been chosen to lead the interim government in Bangladesh. This decision was taken in an important meeting chaired by Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin. The meeting was also attended by the chiefs of the three armies of the country and the leaders of the major student unions leading the student movement.

Nobel laureate Yunus will be from Bangladesh head of interim government

The protesting students had demanded that Muhammad Yunus, who gained global recognition as an economist for his work against poverty alleviation and is known as the ‘banker of the poor’, be made the chief advisor of the interim government. Speaking to the media after the meeting with the President, the student leaders said that they have been assured that an interim government will be formed soon under the leadership of Yunus. They have submitted a list of names including 10-14 prominent persons to be part of the interim government.

Yunus, 83, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his pioneering work in lifting millions out of poverty. Muhammad Yunus was charged in more than 190 cases by the Hasina government. He has had a feud with the Sheikh Hasina government in the past. He was reportedly ousted from the post of managing director of Grameen Bank on the ground that he had exceeded the legal retirement age of 60 years. Born in Chittagong in 1940, Yunus did his early higher education at Dhaka University and then enrolled at Vanderbilt University in the US to study economics.
