Experts have suggested several measures like surveying dangerous buildings, forming a nodal agency and cleaning drains after rain.

Urban affairs expert Jagdish Mamagai said that every year before the monsoon, the MCD conducts a survey of dangerous buildings. He said that such surveys need to be conducted several times a year so that dangerous buildings can be identified at the right time and potential accidents can be avoided.

Measures that can prevent accidents in Delhi

Jagdish Mamagai suggested that a nodal agency can also be formed, which can identify dangerous buildings and buildings violating the rules in time. He said that along with paying house tax or property tax, an affidavit should be taken from the person using the building or the occupier, in which he will state that no violation is being done according to the building bylaws.

Experts say that drains should be cleaned not only during monsoon season but also after every rain so that silt does not accumulate no matter how much it rains. Catchment area of ​​every area should be identified and water drainage system should be made, for example Rajendra Nagar area is situated on a hill and during rain water enters the lower areas. There should be drainage system from basement and permission should be given for its commercial use.

Delhi commissioner suggested these measures

Delhi Commissioner Ashwani Kumar said that this is a very unfortunate incident. We have worked on some things so that water does not enter and cleaning can be done. We worked on that, this is a systemic thing. He told that action has been taken against illegal basements. He told that a survey will be done in this regard and action will be taken after identifying illegal basements.
