Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is in jail for several cases including corruption. Meanwhile, there is news that he is going to contest the election for Chancellor of Oxford University from inside the jail.
According to The Telegraph report, Imran will contest the election for the post of Chancellor in Oxford University through online ballot from inside the jail. The post of Chancellor in Oxford University has fallen vacant after the resignation of Lord Patten, chairman of Britain’s Tory Party. Lord Patten was in this post for almost 21 years.
Oxford University graduates and alumni who have become politicians are appointed to the post of Chancellor. On this matter, Imran’s advisor Syed Zulfi Bukhari said that Imran will contest for the post of Chancellor of Oxford University because there is a demand that he should contest for this post. Once things become clear about this, we will announce it publicly and start a signature campaign for it.
Apart from Imran, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Boris Johnson are also in the fray for this post. Let us tell you that this is the first time that the Chancellor elections will be held online.
Imran himself is an Oxford graduate. He studied economics and politics from the university’s Cabaret College in 1972. He has also served as Chancellor of Bradford University from 2005 to 2014.

Imran is in Adiala jail
Actually, Imran Khan is in jail due to 3 different cases. First, he has been convicted in the Toshakhana corruption case, second, the Sifar case and third, the non-Islamic marriage case. He has been kept in the high-security Adiala jail in Rawalpindi for one year. His wife Bushra Bibi is also in this jail.
At present, more than 200 cases are registered against Imran Khan. He has been convicted in some cases. Imran Khan has got bail in many cases. In some, his sentence has been canceled, but he has not been released. Imran Khan was arrested on August 5 last year after being convicted in the Toshakhana corruption case. After this, he has been kept in jail for many other cases as well.
Arrest made in Toshakhana case
After dismissing Imran Khan’s conviction in the Iddat (un-Islamic marriage) case earlier this month, the court had ruled that Imran should be released from jail if he was not wanted in any other case. But within hours, he was arrested along with his 49-year-old wife Bushra in the Toshakhana case.
