ICC World Test Championship: Team India tops the WTC table… Pakistan is in a bad shape, know the condition of all 9 teams

The Indian cricket team recently toured Sri Lanka, where it played three ODIs and as many T20 matches. In the T20 series, India whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0. The Sri Lankan team won the ODI series 2-0. After the end of the Sri Lanka tour, the Indian players got a break of about 43 days. After the break, the Indian team will play two Test matches and three T20 matches against Bangladesh.

If we look at it, the Indian team has to play 10 Test matches in the next 111 days (3 months and 19 days) from 19 September. While overall, in 5 months, apart from 10 Tests, 8 T20 and 3 ODI matches have to be played. After Bangladesh, India has to play three Test matches against New Zealand and five against Australia on their soil.

These ten test matches are very important for the Indian team. If India has to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), then it will have to perform brilliantly in these matches. India is currently at the top of the WTC points table with 68.52 percent points. India has 74 points from six wins, two losses and one draw in 9 matches so far.

Australia’s team is in second place in the WTC table. The Kangaroo team has 90 points from 8 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw in 12 matches. Its point percentage is 62.50. New Zealand team is in third place in the WTC table. New Zealand has 36 points from 3 wins and 3 losses in 6 matches. The Kiwi team’s point percentage is 50.00. After this, Sri Lanka is in fourth place, South Africa is in fifth place and Pakistan is in sixth place. While England is in seventh place, Bangladesh is in eighth place and West Indies is in ninth place.

Let us tell you that this is the third cycle of the World Test Championship, which will run from 2023 to 2025. The ICC has already released the rules related to the points system for this third cycle. The team will get 12 points for winning the Test match, 4 points for drawing the match and 6 points for a tie.

100% points will be added for winning the match, 50% for a tie, 33.33% for a draw and 0% for losing. A total of 24 points will be available in a two match series and 60 points will be available in a five match series. Since the ranking in the points table is primarily determined on the basis of winning percentage.
