ICC Rankings Latest Updates: Big change in ICC rankings… Rohit Sharma overtook Shubman Gill, Babar Azam remained on top

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest rankings on 14 August (Tuesday), in which a big upheaval has been seen. Now Indian captain Rohit Sharma has come to the second position in the ODI batting rankings. Rohit has pushed his fellow countryman opener Shubman Gill to the third position. After Gill comes Virat Kohli, who is at the fourth position.

Rohit is not far behind Babar

Pakistan captain Babar Azam tops the list of batsmen in ODIs. But Rohit Sharma is not far behind him. Rohit has 765 rating points, while Babar Azam has 824 rating points. Rohit scored 157 runs in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan batsman Pathum Nissanka has also reached the eighth position due to scoring 101 runs in the same series. Kusal Mendis (up five places to 39th) and Avishka Fernando (up 20 places to 68th) have also improved their rankings.

Netherlands’ aggressive opener Max O’Dowd (up 10 places to 54th) and America’s Monank Patel (up 11 places to 56th) also benefited. America’s Nostush Kenjige (up 10 places to 49th) and Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Welalage (up 17 places to 59th) also dominated the ODI bowling rankings. In the bowling rankings, Keshav Maharaj is at number one, Josh Hazlewood is at number two and Adam Zampa is at number three.

Bavuma benefits in Test cricket

There was some change in the Test rankings as well. Among the batsmen, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has achieved the highest rating of his Test career. Bavuma scored 6 and 15* runs in the first Test against West Indies. Bavuma jumped two places to 16th position in the batsmen’s list. While South African opener Tony de Zorji moved up 29 places to 85th position. Zorji scored 78 runs in the first innings during the first Test against West Indies.

Jason Holder (up three places to 67th) and Alick Athanaz (up 12 places to 76th) have also gained in the Test batting rankings. While Keshav Maharaj dominated the Test bowlers rankings. Maharaj took four wickets in both innings during the first Test against the West Indies, due to which the South African spinner improved seven places and is now at 21st position. West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican is now at number 54 with a gain of 12 places.
