IAS Smita Sabharwal got 4th rank after failing in UPSC, you will be stunned to see her 12th marksheet

IAS Smita Sabharwal: At the age of just 23, Smita Sabharwal achieved an achievement that many people dream of. She is an IAS officer from Telangana cadre in the year 2000. She had secured fourth position in the UPSC examination. The foundation of her success was laid long ago. Smita Sabharwal’s 12th class marksheet is being discussed a lot on social media. In which her extraordinary marks have impressed many people.

Actually, Smita Sabharwal shared her 12th class marksheet on her social media account ‘X’ (earlier Twitter) after watching the film ’12th Fail’ inspired by the journey of IPS Manoj Sharma. Then she wrote in her X post, ‘#12thfail was an inspiration! But passing 12th is like a good memory. Looked at my 12th result and remembered that doing well gives confidence to dream big. To all the dear children who are preparing for one of the toughest entrance exams in the world #UPSC… Both #workhard and #WorkSmart, expression/subject knowledge are equally important.’ Once again IAS Smita Sabharwal’s marksheet is in discussion on social media.

I got 97-94-94-90-86 marks in 12th

Smita Sabharwal, born on 19 June 1977 in Darjeeling, is the daughter of Colonel Pranab Das. After her father’s retirement, her family settled in Hyderabad. Her early education took place in Hyderabad, where she studied at St. Ann’s High School in Secunderabad. IAS Smita Sabharwal (then Smita Das) passed the 12th board examination in the year 1995 from the CISCE board. Her marks in the marksheet shared by her on social media were something like this-
English: 94
Hindi: 94
Economics : 90
Composition of commerce: 86
Principal of Accounts: 97
Grade: A

Failed in the first attempt, got fourth rank in the second

Despite initial failure in her first attempt at the civil services exam, Smita’s determination led her to success. In her second attempt, she not only cleared the UPSC exam but also secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 4. Her achievement at the young age of 23 made her one of the youngest IAS officers in India.

Received PM Excellence Award in the first appointment

Smita Sabharwal was first appointed as sub-collector in Chittoor district and then after working for a decade in many districts of Andhra Pradesh, she was made the DM of Karimnagar district in April 2011. Here she started the ‘Ammalalana’ project in the health care sector. Due to the success of this project, Smita was also given the Prime Minister Excellence Award. Karimnagar has also received the Best Town Award during Smita’s tenure as DM in Karimnagar. Smita is married to 2001 batch IPS officer Akun Sabharwal, they have two children Nanak and Bhuvish.
