In Bengal, a man in a drunken state misbehaved with a female doctor. After receiving a complaint in this matter, the police arrested the accused. Police said that the accused had threatened the female doctor to treat her like the trainee doctors in Kolkata’s government hospital.
West Bengal Police on Sunday arrested a civic volunteer for threatening a female doctor at a government hospital in East Burdwan district. The accused arrested by the police has been identified as Sushant Roy. The female doctor had complained to the police about this matter.
In the complaint, the woman doctor said that during the night duty at Bhatar State General Hospital, the accused Sushant Roy misbehaved with her in a drunken state. He threatened that he will do the same to her as happened to the trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College.

Let us tell you that a trainee female doctor was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the seminar hall on the third floor of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata on Friday morning. She was a PG second year student in the medical college itself. The post-mortem report revealed that the victim doctor was sexually assaulted and then murdered. Police said that the suspect was arrested after watching the CCTV footage.
According to sources, the accused Sanjay Roy is a civic volunteer by profession. Such volunteers are contractual employees who assist the policemen in the respective police units for traffic management. They also assist the police during major festivals in the state and at places where there is unauthorized parking of vehicles. Such people work for the police.
Police said that the accused had gone to Bhatar Government Hospital for treatment and he threatened the lady doctor for delay in treatment. The woman accused the civic volunteer of threatening her. The accused said, “Do you know what happened in RG Kar Medical College? It can happen to you too.”
District Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Suvarna Goswami said that the accused was a civic volunteer. Drunk civic volunteer Sushant Roy threatened a female doctor. Necessary steps should be taken for our safety. This matter should be investigated. A female doctor said that last night a man came to the hospital and threatened the medical officer. We have complained to the police and demanded action.
