‘I will never return now…’, fed up with the harassment of brother-in-law, two sisters jumped into the river and then…

In Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, two sisters committed suicide by jumping into a river after being fed up of their brother-in-law’s molestation. The father of the two sisters has accused his son-in-law of molesting his daughters. Police said that Suresh Kumar, the father of the deceased sisters, claimed that his daughters Sunita (19) and Punita (17) were molested by Ashok Kumar, the husband of his elder daughter Anita.

According to the news agency report, Suresh Kumar told the police that both the girls left the house in Mankapur area this morning saying that they were going and would never return. Police station in-charge Santosh Kumar Mishra said that both the sisters jumped into the Bisuhi river and later their bodies were recovered from the river with the help of villagers.

The father said he had no idea about his daughters’ decision

The father of the deceased said that at that time he did not take the daughters’ statement seriously thinking that they were going to defecate. However, when the girls did not return after some time, the villagers started searching.

After some time, people reached the river because some villagers had seen both the sisters going towards the river. Then the police was informed about this. Police said that the bodies of both were found in the river, the sisters had tied each other with clothes. Police said that Sunita had passed 12th class this year while Punita was a student of 10th class.
