‘I never make animals’, Farhan Akhtar has a problem with Ranbir Kapoor’s role!

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, released in December 2023, is still in the news. While the film made a lot of money at the box office, Ranbir’s alpha male character Ranvijay was heavily criticized in the film. Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar also commented on the film and called Ranbir’s character problematic. He also said that this is a film with which he can never relate.

The film Animal received mixed responses, many people liked it a lot while many questioned Ranbir’s character. It was also criticized a lot, calling it anti-women.

Ranbir’s character is problematic

In an interview with Faye D’Souza, Farhan told that this is not his type of film. He said- The film did not do anything special for me. Is this something that I would recommend anyone to watch, I don’t think so. When asked if he had the opportunity to produce Animal, he replied, “No, I would not. It does not relate to me. For me, I think this character of Ranbir is problematic for me.

Right to make a film your own way

Farhan has earlier also talked about the film Animal and Ranbir Kapoor’s character in it in an interview given to Raj Shamami. Farhan had said that everyone has the right to make a film according to their own way, but it is the audience’s job to decide who likes it and who doesn’t. The actor had said – I don’t believe that some things should not be shown. We are in such a field, where if someone tells me, ‘You cannot make a film like this’, then I will say, ‘Who are you to tell me what I should make and what I should not?’

“I am allowed by the law of this country, and I have the freedom of artistic expression to say whatever I want. What the audience wants to hear, they will decide. I will never tell any film producer or writer or director or anyone, ‘Yaar don’t make this’, or, ‘This kind of film cannot be made’. Everyone has their own opinion, because I don’t think it is right and it is dangerous to do so.”

Farhan is currently working on Don 3. This time Ranveer Singh will be seen in the role of Don. Its release has been scheduled for 2027.
