‘I apologize to the people of Maharashtra’, said Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue collapsed in a fort in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra on August 26, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has apologized for this incident. He said that in this regard I apologize to the 13 crore people of Maharashtra. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is our deity and the collapse of his statue like this within a year is a shock for all of us.

Ajit Pawar said in a public meeting during his Jan Samman Yatra in Latur district that action will be taken against the culprits, whether they are officials or contractors. Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the statue on December 4 last year. Exactly 8 months after this, the statue fell on August 26. In this case, an FIR has been registered against the contractor of the statue construction work. The FIR has been registered after a complaint by the Public Works Department, which claimed that the construction of the statue was of poor quality and the nuts and bolts used in the structure were found to be rusted.

Earlier, Shiv Sena (Uttar Pradesh) chief Uddhav Thackeray and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar targeted the Eknath Shinde-led government over the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue and alleged that corruption is at its peak under the Mahayuti government’s rule. Addressing a press conference with Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole, Uddhav Thackeray said that the government’s claim that the statue fell due to strong winds is the “height of shamelessness”.

MVA will take out a march on September 1

Uddhav said that there is unrest in Maharashtra due to the fall of the statue. Uddhav said that the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) will take out a march from Hutatma Chowk to the Gateway of India in South Mumbai on September 1 to protest against the government. Thackeray said that prominent leaders of all the constituent parties of the MVA, including Pawar – Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP) and Congress will join this protest.

Uddhav Thackeray said that those who obstructed the MVA’s morcha in Malvan today against the demolition of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue are betraying Shivaji Maharaj. He alleged that the government has no love for Chhatrapati Shivaji. He was referring to the clash between Shiv Sena (UBT) workers and supporters of BJP MP Narayan Rane at Rajkot Fort.

‘The government is absolving itself of its responsibilities by blaming the Navy’

Let us tell you that a statement of Maharashtra Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar had come out that ‘something good will come out of this collapse’. On this, Uddhav said that this means that a new tender will be issued to build a new statue and there will be a scam again. Referring to the case against the contractor, Thackeray said that the government accepts that a crime has been committed. He said that the government is absolving itself of the blame by blaming the Navy. The state government had said on Tuesday that the statue was built by the Navy.
