Human-Wolf Conflict: Humans destroyed the house or killed the cubs! Wolves are taking revenge for this… Expert’s warning

In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, 8 people have lost their lives in wolf attacks since March. Seven of them are children. More than 36 people are injured. These include women, children and the elderly. The entire district and the surrounding area are currently terrorized by wolves. People are scared. The maximum number of attacks since March took place on 17 July.

Gyan Prakash Singh, Eastern Forest Officer of Katarniaghat Wildlife Division of Bahraich district, said that compared to other predatory animals, wolves have a much higher tendency to take revenge. I am saying this from my experience. Humans are the reason behind the continuous attacks by wolves. Humans must have harmed the wolves in some way or the other. Either they must have destroyed their home. Or they must have killed their children. Wolves are taking revenge for this.

He told that at that time more than 50 children were killed by wolves in the area on the banks of the Sai river. Investigation revealed that at that time some children had killed two cubs of wolves. After which the wolves, the parents of the killed cubs, started killing human children.

At that time, the forest department launched a campaign to catch the man-eating wolves. Some wolves were caught. But the two angry man-eating wolves escaped. Then a large-scale search was started. After this, they were identified and shot. A similar pattern was seen in Bahraich in January-February. Two wolf cubs were killed and crushed under the wheels of a tractor.

Releasing wolves in Chakia forest 40 km away is a big mistake…

Some of the wolves caught in Bahraich have been released in Chakia forest. This is some 40 kilometers away. A mistake has been made here. Chakia forest is not the natural habitat of wolves. It is not their natural habitat. It is possible that those wolves have come back again and are attacking to take revenge.

Regarding the four wolves caught, Singh said that it is not necessary that all the man-eating wolves have been caught. Because if even one wolves are out there, attacks will keep happening. And the recent attacks are the result of this. It is also not necessary that all the wolves that have been caught are man-eaters.
