In the original film, bio-exorcist Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) advertises his abilities to newly deceased couple Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam (Alec Baldwin) Maitland, who drive off a bridge to escape a dog. Stumped on how to prevent new people from moving into their house, the Maitlands try to consult their handbook for the recently deceased before summoning the green-haired monster.
