How is internship of one crore youth possible? Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman explained the calculation

Last Updated on 25/07/2024 by wccexam Desk

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the first budget of Modi Government 3.0 on Tuesday. Many announcements were made in the budget. It also promised to provide internships to 1 crore youth. Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that the government will provide internships to 1 crore youth in 500 top companies. The opposition is raising questions about this. In a special conversation with Aaj Tak, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke in detail on this and hit back at the Congress.

Actually, the opposition is claiming that giving internships to 1 crore youth in top 500 companies through PM Internship Program would mean giving internships to 4 thousand youth in each company. How will it be possible for every company to keep 4 thousand youth as interns? At the same time, the opposition is criticizing that they are not giving jobs, they are only giving internships. You are creating these corporate Agniveers.

In response to these allegations, the Finance Minister said that who is saying that we will give the right to apprenticeship i.e. internship? Congress. That means you talked about giving the right to apprenticeship during the election campaign to mislead the youth. According to the same logic, you were not giving jobs to do Jumrah but you were giving the right to apprenticeship.

Internship will be of great benefit to the youth: Finance Minister

He said that a company does not have just one building. The top 500 companies of the country have many plants in the big cities of the country. We sit with the industry and plan every scheme. Only after this we have made this announcement. The top 500 companies have a huge turnover and they have many offices. We will give five thousand rupees per month to the youth who intern in the companies. The companies just have to give the youth a chance and teach them. When the youth get a chance, after 12 months they will get a certificate that they have learned the work in one of the top 500 companies. After this they will get a huge benefit in getting a job.

‘There are jobs but the youth are not ready for them’

The Finance Minister said that I will tell you for example that a few days ago the chief of the country’s largest infrastructure company L&T said that they have 45 thousand jobs, but they are not getting suitable youth with the skills required for the job. We are preparing the youth for such skills. After the internship, these youth will get an opportunity to work in many companies. They will have the information about which company is right according to the training they have received.

What did the Finance Minister say on giving priority to states with alliance partners?

On the allegations of giving more importance to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, which are ruled by NDA allies JDU and TDP, in the general budget, Nirmala Sitharaman said that I want to ask the other states that if there is a state in India which does not even have a capital till date, is it a crime to help them? If the UPA government was in power today, would it have denied this to Andhra Pradesh? The Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act gives the right that you should have a capital. The central government will help for that. Will the UPA government deny this? According to the law that was used in dividing India, should that state not have a capital? What argument are these people putting forward? Will the country progress or not?

He said that I thought that in this election, just as the party is chosen by the people through votes to form the government, similarly this time the opposition has also been chosen. Meaning, with 50 seats you may not be able to put forward the issues in the parliament with strength, so take 40 more seats. Still the people did not let them cross 100. Will you play the role of a strong opposition or will you just keep doing drama?

Nirmala Sitharaman said this about the budget speeches of the UPA government

On the allegations of fighting between Delhi and Lucknow and taking revenge for the loss in Maharashtra, the Finance Minister said that this is false propaganda. Yesterday, when the Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge was speaking in the Rajya Sabha, I also responded to him. Was the amount and projects to be given to each state mentioned in the budget speech of Congress on time? I challenge all his speeches to be taken out and seen. Was the budget of those states which were not mentioned in his speeches stopped? It was not stopped then and it is not stopped now also. They (opposition) do not have to speak the truth. They only have to make baseless allegations. We are working in all the states without naming them. Like Vadavan Port Maharashtra was mentioned in the Rajya Sabha, but the name of the state was not taken in the vote on account. So this does not mean that work will not be done there. When we were in the opposition, we never asked the Congress why the name of Tamil Nadu or Jammu and Kashmir was not mentioned. We thought that money will be spent. If there is any issue more important than this, then ask questions. They are raising the question that nothing is being done for our state, what does this mean? Is this country not ours?

On the opposition parties’ announcement of boycotting the Niti Aayog meeting, the Finance Minister said that they are missing a good opportunity. Come and sit in the meeting. Raise the issue in front of Niti Aayog Chairman Prime Minister Narendra Modi that this has to be done for our state. You get a study done by Niti Aayog and give the money.
